Afghanistan Inaugurating New President
Security is tight in Kabul, where Afghanistan is about to inaugurate Ashraf Ghani as the country's new president.
Delegates from around the world are attending Monday's ceremony, which is being held at the presidential palace. Afghan political and religious leaders will also be in attendance.
Outgoing President Hamid Karzai is handing over responsibilities to lead Afghanistan after taking power following the ouster of the Taliban in a U.S.-led incursion in late 2001.
Ghani is expected to name election rival Abdullah Abdullah as the country's new chief executive in a power-sharing deal reached after a months-long post-election crisis.
The swearing-in of a new leader will mark the first peaceful democratic transition of power in strife-torn Afghanistan.
